Frequently asked questions.

Q — Are you CPR / First Aide certified?

A — There will always be at least one person in the building who is certified!  We also will always have choking devices and first aide kits on site.

Q — Do you have cameras?

A — Yes!  However, they are not set up for live streaming.  If there are any concerns, we are more than happy to review any footage.

Q — What are Literacy Labs?

A — These are classes where we bring literacy and STEM together. We start with a book and then do fun STEM activities that go along with the book.  For example,  one night we may read a book about flowers/plants and then do a flower dissection to learn about the different parts and what they do, plant seeds to for the kids to take home, followed by other related crafts.

Q — Can I get updates while my child is there and I am not?

A — Yes!  Call or text our business number: 252.599.3388

Q — What ages can come?

A — Open play is designed for children up to age 7.  However, older children are welcome to come as well.  Note, we do have a lot of "loose parts" play, therefore there will be small parts out that could pose a choking hazard.  We do ask parents to please keep a close eye on younger children or allow them to play in our nursery room.

Q — How many children will there be?

A — Safety is our top priority.  In order to keep everyone safe, spots are limited.  For open play, homeschool classes, and drop-in care, we will always cap our limit to 12-15 kids.

For drop-in care specifically: children who are not potty trained will be limited to no more than 4 at a time.  Children who are potty trained will be limited to no more than 8  at a time.

Q — Will both age groups be together during drop-in care?

A — No.  We have a separate room equipped for the younger children, while the main area is equipped for the older children.

Q — What can I expect my child to do during open play and drop-in hours?

A — Children are free to explore and play how they see fit.  We want them to have the freedom to think outside of the box, be curious, and use their imagination.  At times we will put together special activities that will be offered, but they will never be required.

Q — How long can I leave my child?

A — We are not a licensed facility.  We, legally, can only keep unattended children for up to 3 hours.  If you are leaving your child for classes or drop-in care, please ensure you arrive on time to pick them back up.

Q — What do I need to bring?

A — Please bring diapers and wipes (if applicable), a water bottle, and snacks / lunch.  We also recommend bringing a change of clothes (sometimes our play is messy.)

*Note: We are a peanut free facility!  Please refrain from bringing snacks that contain nuts.

Q — Where can we park?

A — Great question!  There is parking available in the lot right next to the building on the corner of Elizabeth Street and MLK Jr. Drive.
